You are losing the battle for your sales team's attention

You know how difficult it is to compete for customer’s attention… but you might be overlooking how hard it can be to keep your sales force’s attention. They are distracted by communications from product teams, corporate marketing, HR, and the same random email noise that working in any large organization generates.

CriticalCast cuts through the clutter of hundreds of daily emails competing for their attention. You can’t afford to hope that everyone reads your email or is 100% engaged on any given conference call. Regular, engaging communications can help focus attention, reinforce messages, and keep your sales team aligned to what YOU need them to do.

Rise above email noise with engaging, rich media

When you communicate with customers, you wouldn’t rely on a single email to get your message across…you know it takes time and impressions to focus attention and change behavior. For your marketing team, this means high-touch advertising campaigns and big budgets for Internet, print, mail, TV, and radio ads.

CriticalCast provides a cost-effective way to consistently deliver specific messages to a widely distributed audience. It allows you to stand out from other communications to grab their attention and make sure your team is focused on business-critical, bottom-line changing information.

Broadcast quality, just-in-time critical information

CriticalCast works with your internal experts to define key messages, provide expert commentary, and perspective. A professional host walks your audience through updates, announcements, and calls to action. Broadcast quality production allows you to craft multimedia communications that are far superior to any conference call, email newsletter, or social media platform—plus providing key persona’s within you organization critical face-time with the field.

Each podcast includes trackable hyperlinks and clear calls to action to access public or behind-the-firewall enablement assets, training, or other videos. Your audience can subscribe to push updates so that new content is automatically downloaded to their mobile device or computer as soon as it is available.

Secure video podcasts for enterprise sales key to keeping focus and making numbers

You are losing the battle for your sales team's attention

CriticalCast is determined to solve the problem of a distracted salesforce. Outside of the C-suite, enterprise sales and sales management are typically the most highly paid positions at any organization. The sales organization is directly responsible for a company’s bottom line, yet they are also the most distracted and hardest to reach of anyone at the company. Producer/Director Marty Boyzuck explains the value of video to communicate to this most important audience:

“Video podcast communication is great for any distributed team, but is most effective for an audience that is often hyper-distracted. The higher the pressure, the more distractions—the more that everyone in the organization wants to bend their ear. So it’s critical that senior leadership has a direct, effective communication tool to keep everyone on the same page.”

CriticalCast leverages their years of broadcast media and eLearning tools and techniques to create short, regular communications to any distributed audience that have the feel of something you might see on a major network news show. Executive Producer Alex Thomas gives insight into why the format is so successful:

“Without fail, the most knowledgeable people in an organization are typically not the best communicators. It’s rare that the head of product development, or the engineer who created a flagship software product will be good on camera. We use broadcast professional presenters to make sure the most important information comes across that way, but we interview the experts to let them tell their story in their own words. It’s like a personalized Headline News for a sales organization.”

CriticalCast creates weekly video podcasts of between 7 to 15 minutes for internal audiences, not a mass market. Their customer’s content is highly sensitive and by definition needs to be oriented to an internal audience only, so traditional podcast delivery methods and services do not work. Marty Boyzuck explains the difference between internal podcasting and more mainstream, mass-market podcasts:

“Podcasting is huge, you have millions of people subscribing to ‘Serial’ or ‘Joe Rogan’, and millions more consuming episodes of the ‘Daily Show’ or NPR as a podcast feed. Most of that happens through publicly available subscriptions. But iTunes is not suitable for sales training because the content contains so much proprietary information that you certainly can’t let it out into the wild where your competitors can have access to it too.”

Most of the work CriticalCast has done has been focused in the technology sector, but the tools and techniques can be applied to any large, geographically distributed team. Critical Cast uses a combination of off-the-shelf solutions and custom workflows and hosting to provide secure video delivery, typically leveraging an organizations internal intranet and communication channels as some portion of the solution. Alex Thomas highlights why sales leaders support the concept:

“CriticalCast is a powerful lens that we use to help the leadership of an organization focus attention on critical initiatives. It ensures that everyone knows the most important things that they should be focused on, and it does it in a creative, and non-boring way.”

FAQ

What does it cost?

There are weekly or monthly package options that include all the collaboration, writing, interviews with your experts, production, and distribution of the finished podcasts. Actual price varies based on length, number of interviews, existing material we can leverage, etc. but in almost every scenario, your cost per podcast will be under $1,000. By contrast, an on-site video shoot to edit a single 5 minute interview video is often more than $5,000.

Can I use my own video?

Absolutely! In fact, the best uses of CriticalCast leverage a LOT of video from the people in your organization that have the most to say. If you have good quality video from your internal AV team, third-party interview, or even another vendor, CriticalCast will add that to the editorial calendar of upcoming content for your podcast series.

Can I customize the design?

We require it! We have access to a great design team that will help craft the visual identity and help you “brand” your communication channel to fit your organization and audience. We’ll leverage your logo, color schemes, fonts, etc. to make sure that any CriticalCast video follows your brand guidelines.

How is it distributed?

We encourage organizations to invite their audience to subscribe to “push” updates via a podcast subscription service like iTunes, but have the content hosted in a secure, password protected location. There are other third-party secure hosting options including CriticalCast.com. Additionally, we suggest publishing to internal (behind the firewall) locations that could include Wikis, SharePoint, Brainshark, etc. and in some instances using YouTube or Vimeo.

Can’t I just create my own podcasts?

Most of our customers have created internal videos for special events or to launch new initiatives, but regular, consistent video communications are very hard to “do it yourself.” If you have access to good equipment, and a mandate from your organization to drive successful communications to your organization, go for it! If you need help, CriticalCast does consulting work as well—just reach out to Marty@CriticalCast.com.

We have an internal video team, can they produce podcasts for us?

Internal video teams are a key part of a successful internal-facing podcast. We typically leverage interview archives and other video content to help enhance the “custom feel” for a CriticalCast video. If you have an internal video team that can produce what you need, congratulations! Most organizations don’t have the expertise in-house to produce broadcast quality interviews and news-style shows. Even if you do have the technical expertise, it may be hard to find a professional presenter and writers that can craft the content into a concise, action-oriented communication ever week.
